Departing from Marrakech, your journey takes you southeast through the dramatic High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass where the landscape transforms from lush green valleys into vast open plains and desert plateaus. Along the way, discover the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou — one of Morocco’s most iconic historic sites and a true highlight of any Moroccan journey.
Continue through Ouarzazate, the Gateway to the Sahara, before arriving at the golden dunes of Merzouga and the magnificent Erg Chebbi — some of the tallest and most spectacular dunes in all of Morocco, rising up to 150 meters and attracting travelers from every corner of the world.
As the sun sets over the dunes, mount your camel and ride deep into the heart of the Sahara. Spend an unforgettable night in a traditional luxury desert camp beneath a sky blanketed with stars, enjoying authentic Berber music around the fire and a delicious home-cooked Moroccan dinner.
The following day brings thrilling activities across the desert landscape — including a quad bike and ATV adventure across the dunes, a camel ride through the golden sands, and the chance to visit a local Berber village and connect with the people who have called this extraordinary landscape home for centuries.
Before returning to Marrakech, the route winds through two of Morocco’s most stunning natural wonders. The dramatic Todra Gorge — a breathtaking canyon with walls rising over 300 meters — offers some of the most remarkable scenery in the entire country. The journey continues through the beautiful Dades Valley, lined with ancient kasbahs, almond trees, and striking rock formations, before crossing back over the Atlas Mountains and arriving in Marrakech by evening.
Our guides will pick you up from your Marrakech Riad and take you on a 3 days tour from Marrakech to the desert via the Dades Valley via the Tizi-n-Ticheka Atlas pass (2260 m). From the pass, you will have stunning views of the High Atlas Mountains, which are dotted with Berber villages. We continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the site with your guide. After that, we eat lunch nearby before continuing on the Kasbah Road to the Dades Valley, where we will spend the first night.
Today our new day adventure from Dades Valley in the morning before continuing to Erg Chebbi in the Sahara desert at Merzouga. Berber villages dot the route as we visit the famous Todra Gorge, where we will stop for an hour to walk through these stunning Moroccan canyons. Continue through the villages of Tinjdad, Jarf, and Erfoud until you reach the Erg Chebbi dunes. Before riding camels to the dunes to watch the sunset, we stop for tea. Spend the night in a luxury camp.
We rise Early to watch the sunrise in the dunes, and then eat breakfast before returning to Marrakech. We return to Ouarzazate via a slightly different route through the dry landscape of the Saghro Mountains, passing through Alnif, Tazzarine, and N’Koub, as well as the beautiful Valley of Draa, the old camel caravans’ main trading road. After returning via the Tizi-n-Ticheka Pass, we arrive in Marrakech in the early evening.
